Today, Dan received the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune, who said that he "put a real scare into Republican Rep. Mark Kirk in 2006." Calling him "smart [and] well-prepared," the Chicago Tribune endorsed Dan based on his "better grasp of local issues and concerns."

Source: Chicago Tribune 10th District (Democrat): Dan Seals

He is the son of former Chicago Bears guard George Seals and a social worker.

Several of Seals' policy ideas are more fleshed out..., particularly on the economy and immigration reform, including a push for Mexico to do more to control the flow of immigrants and boost its own economy.

Seals also has the best chance to defeat Kirk. Two years ago, Seals, of Wilmette, came out of nowhere and nearly beat Kirk, winning 47 percent of the vote. This time, Seals, 36, has much broader name recognition and financial support. The self-described "gym rat" is endorsed by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and 30 local elected officials, unions and Democratic organizations."

Source: Chicago Sun Times Seals our choice in the 10th District

Senator Dick Durbin Endorses Dan

Senator Dick Durbin announced his support for Dan at the 10th Dems Convention in Rosemont last Sunday during his keynote address. Senator Durbin said that Dan is the best candidate to win in the November election and he praised Dan for his stance on Iraq, healthcare and the economy.

Citing Seals' commitment to changing course in Iraq, delivering universal healthcare, and turning our economy around, Durbin emphasized that Seals would be the Democrats' best candidate to beat Rep. Mark Kirk and bring real change to Washington.

"We have 365 days left before we have a new President of the United States, a new direction for our country, and before we put behind us some of the terrible decisions and policies that we've seen over the past seven years," Durbin said.

"Our new President will need a new Congressman from the 10th district. Yesterday's Congressman is not the answer to tomorrow's problems. We need tomorrow's Congressman, which is why we need Dan Seals."
